What is a BLOG?

Blog, Blogging, Blogger, Blog It?

Blogger for Dummies? The following tidbit Information is from a contributing article submitted by my son, Rob Sowell of Niagara Falls, Ont. Canada; who is a lot more computer savvy than his Dad. I'm still come and think from the last century when it comes to 21st century computer and Internet technology. I am new to this blogging thing too and sometimes confused as just what it is for? Like everything else computer related it's a learning experience. Perhaps the following Information will help clarify this new Internet crave. Thanks Rob for clarifying it all up for us and for putting it in plain english. Happy Blogging Rob!

Definition
blog: A frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts, personal articles, personal writings, view points and associated Web links.

More Information
A blog is often a mixture of what is happening in a person's life and what is happening on the Web, a kind of hybrid diary/guide site, although there are as many types of blogs as there are people. People maintained blogs long before the term was coined, but the trend gained momentum with the introduction of automated published systems, most notably Blogger at blogger.com. Thousands of people use services such as Blogger to simplify and accelerate the publishing process. Blogs are alternatively called web logs or weblogs. However, "blog" seems less likely to cause confusion, as "web log" can also mean a server's log files.
